Welcome to Mañanaland
Thursday is the most underrated night of the week. The hard part is behind you, Friday is close, and whatever is still on your plate can wait. That’s Mañanaland: one more round, one more game and a table full of friends who all agreed to deal with it mañana.
It’s the night you said you’d take it easy and ended up staying for the whole thing. The chips and queso hit the table, somebody orders a pitcher, and the weekend quietly starts a day early. Nobody has anywhere else to be, and that’s kind of the point.
Thursdays Mean Loteria
Every Thursday at 7pm, the tablas come out. Loteria Night gets the whole table in on it, whether you’re a regular or it’s your first time playing. It gets competitive fast, and the room gets loud every time someone is one card away.
Never Played? You’ll Catch On Fast
If you grew up in South Texas, there’s a good chance you played Loteria at a family party. If you didn’t, it takes about two minutes to learn. Think bingo, just with way better artwork.
- Grab a tabla, a card covered in classic Loteria images like El Gallo, La Sirena and El Corazon.
- The caller pulls a card from the deck and calls it out.
- If that image is on your tabla, mark it.
- Fill the winning pattern first and yell “¡Loteria!” loud enough for the whole room to hear.
And yes, there are prizes, including El Camino gift cards. Win on Thursday and your next night out is already covered.
